Full-Time:

Land Use & Permitting Supervisor

Status: Applications are being accepted.

The Town of Fletcher is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Land Use & Permitting Supervisor within the Planning & Zoning Department. This position performs technical and administrative work in current planning, permitting, zoning administration, and code enforcement and works closely with the Planning & Zoning Director.

Work includes reviewing zoning and development applications for compliance with Town requirements; assisting residents, property owners, developers, and contractors with zoning, permitting, and land use questions; coordinating application intake and permitting activities; investigating code enforcement complaints and conducting field inspections; preparing public notices and materials for land use hearings; supporting the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment; and maintaining departmental records.

Minimum requirements include graduation from an accredited college or university with a two-year degree. A four-year degree in planning, land use, public administration, geography, or a closely related field is preferred. Professional experience in permitting, current planning, zoning administration, code enforcement, or enforcement of development standards is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

North Carolina Certified Zoning Official (CZO) certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two years of employment, is preferred.

Starting hourly hiring rate: $27.72-$28.85 depending upon qualifications

Police Officer

Status: Applications are being accepted.

The Town of Fletcher Police Department seeks a police officer candidate who is a leader with high ethical standards and unquestionable integrity. Work includes patrolling the Town during an assigned shift in a police car, bicycle, or on foot; preventing, detecting and investigating disturbances and crime; performing traffic control work; apprehending suspects; and executing related assignments.  Employees must exercise judgment, initiative and calm control when performing duties. Work involves frequent public contact which requires tact, firmness and decisiveness.

Prior BLET certification through North Carolina Criminal Justice Training & Standards is preferred. Opportunities to attend BLET as a Police Cadet are available for the eligible applicant that meets department requirements, to include an interview and background investigation.

Starting hourly hiring rate: $23.43
