Full-Time:

Public Works Maintenance Specialist

The Town of Fletcher is looking for an individual with experience in solid waste collection and disposal. Work includes participating in the collection and disposal of solid waste materials including garbage, appliances, furniture, yard waste, and other materials; operates sanitation packer and other trucks on various routes. Other maintenance work to include maintenance work on streets, grounds, drainage, and other public facilities.

Performs a variety of responsible unskilled, semi-skilled, and sometimes skilled maintenance, repair, and construction work on streets, buildings, grounds, drainage, and other public facilities; participates in solid waste collection and disposal.

Successful applicants will be a high school graduate and have experience in solid waste collection and/or maintenance or construction work. The applicant must also possess a valid class B commercial North Carolina driver’s license or willingly to obtain within three months.

Hourly hiring rate: $14.80-$15.00 depending upon qualifications.

Police Officer

The Town of Fletcher Police Department seeks a police officer candidate who is a leader with high ethical standards and unquestionable integrity. Work includes patrolling the Town during an assigned shift in a police car, bicycle, or on foot; preventing, detecting and investigating disturbances and crime; performing traffic control work; apprehending suspects; and executing related assignments.  Employees must exercise judgment, initiative and calm control when performing duties. Work involves frequent public contact which requires tact, firmness and decisiveness.

BLET certification through North Carolina Criminal Justice Training & Standards is required with application.

Hourly hiring rate: $17.40-$18.00, depending upon qualifications.

Part-Time/Seasonal:

Summer Day Camp Counselor

Applications will be reviewed starting mid-March.  Open until filled.

Fletcher Parks and Recreation is currently taking applications for Summer Day Camp Counselors.  This position must be available for staff training in late May/early June and be available for all 9 weeks of camp.  The summer day camp will run from June 14-August 13. Job duties include working with fellow staff and campers ages 5-11; assist in the implementation of programmed activities and facilitate group experiences and field trips; communicate with parents as needed. 

Applicants must be at least 16 years old and have reliable transportation. Strong leadership, group management, and communication skills; ability to follow teaching process and program outlines; strong awareness of childhood developmental and behavior skills; enthusiasm to work with children; first aid/CPR certified preferred, (training available if not certified); specific skills desired in sports, games, nature, outdoor experience, crafts and enthusiasm to work with children. Salary is $10.00/per hour, and this position is expected to work 40 hours during each camp week.
