DESCRIPTION:Drop In Meeting for Highway 25 Corridor Improvements \n Following a 2014 study to determine feasibility for streetscape enhancements on the Highway 25 Corridor\, the Town of Fletcher was awarded grant funding from NCDOT to construct improvements to sidewalks\, landscaping\, and street lighting\, with some additional traffic calming measures. The project scope will be along Hendersonville Road (Hwy 25) from Cane Creek Road to Howard Gap Road. The Town will be hosting a public input meeting on Wednesday\, June 14\, 2017\, at Fletcher Town Hall (300 Old Cane Creek Road) in the large community room on the third floor. The meeting will be an informal “drop in” style meeting from 4:30-6:30 PM. You can come by anytime during this time window to view the design plans. Representatives from our consulting engineering firm\, McGill Associates\, as well as Town Staff\, will be present to answer questions and receive any comments you may have regarding the project\, which will hopefully begin construction later this year. Appalachian Fire will be playing traditional blue grass music at this free\, family-friendly event.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy blue grass music in the park! \nAbout Appalachian Fire:\nAppalacian Fire is a Western North Carolina based band that has been making acoustic music for over a decade. Having begun as a jam band with bandleader Dwayne “Doc” Durham and co founder Cliff Searcy\, the band has evolved into a tight-knit five piece acoustic ensemble. Currently the band consists of Doc on the guitar\, Cliff on mandolin and dobro\, Jim Fox on bass\, Tim “Pappy” Francis on banjo\, and Bill McDonald on fiddle. The group prides itself in close harmony\, smooth instrumentation\, original songwriting\, and a flair for entertainment. They play nearly 60 shows a year in the Carolinas. The band brings high energy picking\, tight harmony\, and great entertainment value for the whole family. Each show brings a mixture of bluegrass standards\, originals\, instrumentals and bluegrass gospel. \nConcessions:\nThe Fletcher Parks and Recreation Department concession stand will be open selling snacks\, drinks\, hot dogs\, nachos and more! Acropolis Pizza will also have its food truck on site selling Pizza!  Coolers are welcome\, but no alcohol is permitted on park property. \nThank you to our Sponsor!

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, January 28\, 2017\n11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.\nVeritas Christian Academy\n17 Cane Creek Rd.\nFletcher\, NC 28732 \n\nThe Town of Fletcher will host the 16th Annual Fletcher Chili Cook-Off on Saturday\, January 28th from 11:30 a.m.-2p.m. at Veritas Christian Academy. The public is invited to taste all the different Chili flavors Fletcher has to offer! There is no entry fee for this event but we are accepting donations that help support the Fletcher Parks Development Fund\, which helps make park improvements at Fletcher Community Park and Kate’s Park! \n  \nCalling all Chefs: \nChef Application\nThe parks and recreation department is currently seeking chefs interested in fighting for the 2017 title of best chili in Fletcher!  Awards will be given in the following categories: Best Overall Chili\, Best Individual Chili\, Best Business Chili\, Best Table Décor and People’s Choice.  All types of chili will be accepted including traditional chili\, white chili and vegetarian chili.  If you think you have the best Chili in the Fletcher\, complete and return an application no later than January 20. \n  \nSponsor \nThank you to First Citizens Bank of Fletcher for making this event possible!
