The Public Works Department provides curbside garbage collection to all Town residents.  Routes are scheduled Tuesdays - Fridays.  Call Town Hall to find out the schedule for your area. Commercial garbage collection is not provided by the Town. 

Garbage collection is for household waste only.  Garbage must be bagged, the bag secured to prevent spillage of its contents, and placed curbside by 8:00 a.m.  No loose items will be picked up. Each household may have up to three garbage receptacles, each not to exceed 32 gallons or 50 pounds in weight.  Arrangements for special back door pickup service for citizens who require assistance is available upon request. 

The following items are NOT picked up:

• Loose garbage in trash receptacle, anything not bagged
• Liquids, cooking oil, wet paint, etc.
• Cat litter, if separated from regular household waste
• Ashes
• Bedding or furniture
• Appliances (separate white goods collection is provided)
• Car batteries, motor oil, tires, etc.
• Gas tanks
• Grass clippings
• Leaves (separate collection is provided on a seasonal basis)
• Brush (separate collection service is provided)
• Briars, weeds, vines, stumps, roots, etc.
• Materials resulting from clearing land
• Firewood
• Building materials
• Flammable materials
• Hazardous, pathological, or medical waste; sharps

Did you know???

Town crews collected 1,337.59 tons of garbage during the 2000 -2001 fiscal year. This was a 9.5% increase over the previous year.
